Mary Njoku challenges ‘Gold Digger’ label against women, cites men living off rich friend

Nollywood actress, Mary Remmy Njoku has questioned what people would call 17 men who, she said, enjoy the wealth of a successful man while being described as his “boys”, instead of being labelled gold diggers.

Njoku raised the issue in a social media post while reacting to the way women are often judged for benefiting from the generosity of wealthy men.

“If benefiting from a wealthy person’s generosity makes a woman a gold digger, what exactly do we call the 17 men eating his food, wearing what he bought, enjoying his money and calling themselves his boys?” she asked.

The actress gave the example of a man identified as Emeka, who she said returned home after becoming successful and had 17 grown men constantly around him.

According to her, the men eat his food, wear clothes he bought, have their bills paid and enjoy his money, but their relationship with him is described as “brotherhood”, “networking” and “loyalty.”

Njoku argued that the same standard is not applied when a woman stays close to a wealthy man and benefits from his generosity.

“The double standard isn’t that people love money. It’s that when men benefit from proximity to wealth, we give the behaviour a respectable name. When women do the same thing, we give it a dirty one,” she wrote.

She added that men, women, friends, relatives and employees can all be drawn to people whose wealth or position can make their life easier.

Back in 2021, Burna Boy was also reported to be the first Nigerian artiste to pass one billion total views on YouTube.

His catalogue features hit tracks including “On The Low”, “Ye”, “Last Last” and “For My Hand”, all of which have racked up millions of views on the platform.

Joeboy Reveals Why He Would Keep His Marriage Private

Afrobeats singer Joeboy has revealed that he would prefer to marry early but would keep the union private from the public until he has at least three children.

The artist made the disclosure during an interview with British media personality Madame Joyce, where he spoke about marriage, timing, and privacy.

“Personally, I would rather get married early. But if I get married right now, nobody is going to know. Maybe when I have like three kids, people will now find out that Joeboy has a whole family somewhere,” he said.

The Sip (Alcohol) hitmaker explained that while he fancies marrying young, he does not believe marriage should be based on public opinion or trends.

“But marriage is not really about whenever it feels cool. If it just feels right to you and you love the person, do it,” Joeboy stated.

He added that the idea of early marriage became more appealing after watching an interview with Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson, who said he wished he had married earlier despite being known as “a ladies’ man.”

“I saw an interview of Timini. He’s like the ideal playboy; almost all the girls claim to love him, and he was like, he wished he got married early. I was like, if you’re a playboy and you can say this, that means marrying early might actually be nice,” he said.

Joeboy also noted that having teenage children in his 40s appeals to him.

“That is not the only identifier for me. But marrying early to someone who you genuinely love is going to be cute. Being 40 and having a 16-year-old kid is cute.”

Uche Ogbodo Opens Up About the Wedding She Never Had

Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has opened up about the wedding she never had, revealing the emotions stirred by appearing as a bride years after her marriage.

Ogbodo shared her reflection after attending the premiere of Folagade Banks’ movie, A Mama Deola Wedding Story, on Wednesday.

The premiere featured a wedding-themed dress code, with several Nollywood stars turning up in bridal-inspired outfits.

Ogbodo also embraced the theme, appearing in a wedding dress.

However, what initially seemed like a glamorous fashion moment became an emotional reminder of the wedding she once imagined for herself.

Sharing a video of herself dressed as a bride, the actress lamented that she never had the opportunity to experience the kind of wedding she had envisioned.

“The wedding I never had. Sometimes, we grieve not just what happened, but what we imagined would happen. The dress, the vows, the celebration, the forever we thought we were building,” she wrote.

Ogbodo, however, said she was learning to embrace the possibility of a different future, even though life didn’t turn out as she had imagined.

“Life didn’t go exactly as I imagined, but I’m learning that the story isn’t over. Maybe the wedding I never had was making room for a life I never knew I deserved,” she added.

Her appearance came amid the star-studded premiere of *A Mama Deola Wedding Story*, which centres on wedding festivities and features several prominent Nollywood actors.

Celebrities including Kate Henshaw, Osas Ighodaro, Shaffy Bello, Kie Kie and Mo Bimpe were among those who attended in bridal-inspired outfits.

The movie is Folagade Banks’ first feature-length production and revolves around the wedding of its central characters, with a large wedding sequence involving hundreds of cast members.

For Ogbodo, however, the wedding-themed occasion became more than a red-carpet fashion moment, prompting her to reminisce about the ceremony she once hoped to have

Ex-BBNaija housemate Danboskid opens up on struggles, shares plans to rebuild

Former Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate Daniel Olatunji, popularly known as Danboskid, has spoken publicly about his current struggles and plans to rebuild his life after his early eviction from the show.

In an Instagram video, the reality star said he had returned to his family home and was sleeping in his sister’s room.

“I don’t really know what to say, but I know I have so many things in mind. And I know I don’t know what’s going on with me. But I know I have to change what’s going on,” he said.

“I know I have to start being intentional. I know I have to start altering my own reality. Because I have to make things work regardless.”

Danboskid said his family was facing difficulties but was not going hungry.
“As I said, we’re not suffering. My dad is a tenant. So yeah, we’re just suffering mentally,” he said.

He added that he considered selling his laptop but decided against it, saying he needed it to work on his career.

The actor, model and entrepreneur outlined several projects he is working on to get back on his feet.

“I have a script going on. I’m going to produce my movie. I’m going to become a movie producer and a world-class top actor,” he said.

He also disclosed plans to launch an accessories brand and to start driving for Uber.

“I also want to start my accessory brand. Oh yeah, I know how to select good accessories. So yeah, you all know I’m going to put it on my business page to patronise me because that’s how I want to kick-start myself,” he said.

He added that he was considering driving cars that people no longer wanted.

His immediate goals, he said, include: “Get something done for myself. Start doing Uber. Start my accessory brand. Get a house for myself. Fix my family, and become a meaningful user. That’s the plan.”

Danboskid said he wants to move beyond public perception and show people “who he really is.”

He also stressed that he was not seeking pity, but advice and support as he tries to turn his situation around.

The reality star was among the housemates on the 2025 edition of BBNaija and became the first to be evicted after 12 days.

He received the lowest percentage of viewer votes during the first live eviction show.

Following his eviction, Danboskid attributed his early exit to a name change in the house, saying it made it difficult for fans to identify and support him.

Big Brother Naija has launched several careers since 2006, but conversations about post-show struggles and financial sustainability have continued to trend among fans and former housemates.

Patience Ozokwor Urges Parents Not to Shield Children From Life’s Struggles

Veteran actress Patience Ozokwor has cautioned parents against shielding their children from all hardship, saying that it could take away their ability to face life’s challenges.

Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G gave this advice in an interview on Femi Babs TV where she spoke on parenting, wealth and raising independent children.

“Perhaps when parents try to protect their children from the hardships they themselves experienced as children, they are depriving them of important lessons in life,” the actress said.

“There’s a difference between letting children suffer and letting them struggle through manageable challenges,” she said.

“The quickest way to ruin a kid’s life is to say you don’t want them to go through what you went through,” she said. I’m not saying let them suffer. I mean, let them suffer. “Go through the motions.

Ozokwor also spoke of rich parents who leave their children with so many properties without teaching them the value of hard work and the sacrifices that go into acquiring such wealth.

She cited a parent who owns several houses in different cities, saying that the children may grow up without knowing how hard it was for their parents to acquire the properties.

“Imagine you have like 20 houses, and they’re not in trouble? You have it in Enugu, you have it in Aba, you have it in Lagos. Your children will be just struggling, “Which one is mine? “They don’t know how hard you’ve worked to get those things,” she said. Travel Guides & Travelogs

The actress encouraged parents to allow their children to work for what they want, but made sure they understand comfort and privilege is not something to be taken for granted.

Ozokwor suggested that parents should let their children face some of life’s struggles so they can build resilience and appreciate the opportunities that come their way.

‘Children who grow up with too much comfort tend to assume an easy life is guaranteed,’ she said.

“Tell your children about the pains of life. They may not know all the pains, but the little they know will tell them that when they look back, they will see that people go through harder ones and they will thank God for where they are,” she added.

Bandits Killed Pastor Hills While He Tried to Escape — Survivor Recounts Ordeal

Pastor Gabriel Joseph Dipak, who was abducted by Fulani bandits on Friday, August 28, 2026, along with Pastor Emmanuel Hills, a Ghanaian-Nigerian cleric based in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, has narrated how the kidnappers slaughtered Hills after he attempted to escape.

Dipak, a pastor with the Christ Apostolic Church, was abducted along with Hills, a former Dunamis Church pastor and founder of The Wonderful Grace of God Evangelical Ministry, while they were travelling from Jos to Bokkos with other passengers.

They ran into a roadblock mounted by Fulani militants along the Barkin Ladi-Bokkos Road.

According to Dipak, they were singled out and taken captive, while the other passengers, including Hills’ wife, were robbed and allowed to leave.

Dipak, who narrated the harrowing experience that led to Hills’ murder, said the Ghanaian-born pastor attempted to escape from the bandits, but they pursued him.

He said when they caught him, they stabbed him several times before pinning him down and slaughtering him in the same manner a goat is slaughtered.

Dipak, who made the revelation in a video interview with conflict journalist, Masara Kim Usman, also said the bandits told him he was lucky he was not a Berom or Mwaghavul man, as they would have killed him immediately.

“We were travelling from Jos to Bokkos that Friday after a programme.

“Before then, I did not know Pastor Emmanuel Hills, but when we got talking and introduced ourselves, I realised he was also a man of God who was based in Bokkos,” Dipak said.

Continuing, he said:

“We were approaching an intersection that would lead to Bokkos at about 9 pm when we ran into a roadblock. We saw flashlights on the lonely road, and I knew they were not soldiers.

“As the driver tried to manoeuvre past the obstacles, four heavily armed men came out of the bush, shouting, ‘Allahu Akbar.’ We knew immediately that they were Fulani militants. They pointed guns and machetes at us, forcing the driver to stop.

“When the vehicle stopped, they commanded all the occupants to lie on the ground and began robbing us. When they realised that Pastor Hills and I were men of God, they singled us out and told the other passengers to get back into the vehicle. They then ordered the driver to go.

“They told us they were Fulani people and that we had been kidnapped. While we were marching towards the surrounding hills, Pastor Hills tried to escape, but they pursued him.

“When he was caught, they began stabbing him. They then proceeded to slaughter him like you would slaughter a goat. He was killed within two minutes, and they even boasted and joked about how Hills struggled before he died.

“We trekked for several hours and arrived at their camp in the hills, where they tied my hands and told me they had been monitoring my movements from Jos and had received orders to kill me,” he said.

“They asked me my tribe, and when I told them, they said I was lucky I was not Mwaghavul or Berom, or else they would have slaughtered me without thinking twice.

“I was released the next evening after they called my wife and family members, who managed to arrange the ransom for my release,” Dipak said.

I’ll soon leave music’ — Davido taunts Erigga

Afrobeats superstar Davido has disclosed that he may eventually step away from music to focus on achieving his financial ambitions, including making billions.

The singer made the remark while responding to a post by Nigerian rapper Erigga on X. Erigga had praised musicians who did not come from wealthy backgrounds and had to work hard to earn every dollar they made.

“Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn,” Erigga wrote.

Davido, however, disagreed with the sentiment, arguing that artists from wealthy families can also put in the work and build successful careers through their own efforts.

Davido subsequently revealed that he plans to leave music at some point to concentrate on his financial goals.

“No worry o I go soon leave their music for una go make my billions… then that shit gonna be boring AF,” he wrote.

The Grammy-nominated singer also questioned whether people genuinely desire a life of poverty, asking his followers, “Deep down, who like poverty?”

His comments have since drawn attention online, particularly his suggestion that he could eventually retire from music to pursue other financial ventures.

All Eyez on the Truth: How Tupac Shakur’s Murder Was Solved 30 Years Later

Tupac Shakur remains one of the most influential figures in hip-hop, remembered for his powerful lyrics, cultural impact and remarkable career, which was tragically cut short at the age of 25.

For almost three decades, the circumstances surrounding his fatal shooting in Las Vegas remained one of the world’s most high-profile unsolved murder cases. Shakur was shot in a drive-by attack in September 1996 and died several days later from his injuries.

The long-running case took a major turn after investigators revived efforts to identify those responsible for the rapper’s death. The development eventually led to the arrest and prosecution of Duane “Keffe D” Davis, a former Compton Crips figure who had previously spoken publicly about the night Shakur was killed.
