I’ll soon leave music’ — Davido taunts Erigga

Afrobeats superstar Davido has disclosed that he may eventually step away from music to focus on achieving his financial ambitions, including making billions.

The singer made the remark while responding to a post by Nigerian rapper Erigga on X. Erigga had praised musicians who did not come from wealthy backgrounds and had to work hard to earn every dollar they made.

“Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn,” Erigga wrote.

Davido, however, disagreed with the sentiment, arguing that artists from wealthy families can also put in the work and build successful careers through their own efforts.

“No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top,” Davido replied.

He described Erigga’s message as “useless motivation” and responded with an insult, calling the rapper an “imbecile.”

Davido subsequently revealed that he plans to leave music at some point to concentrate on his financial goals.

“No worry o I go soon leave their music for una go make my billions… then that shit gonna be boring AF,” he wrote.

The Grammy-nominated singer also questioned whether people genuinely desire a life of poverty, asking his followers, “Deep down, who like poverty?”

His comments have since drawn attention online, particularly his suggestion that he could eventually retire from music to pursue other financial ventures.
