‘I Don’t Have Scandals, I Don’t Associate With Other Artistes’ – Fireboy
Nigerian singer Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy DML, has explained how he manages to maintain a private lifestyle despite his status as one of Nigeria’s prominent music stars.
The singer made the disclosure while interacting with fans about his personality, public image and approach to his career.
According to Fireboy, he intentionally keeps information about his personal life away from the public, making it difficult for people to form opinions about him based on matters outside his music.
The singer said his decision to remain private has also helped him avoid unnecessary controversies that often surround celebrities.
Fireboy explained that he does not have a history of major scandals and generally avoids situations involving relationships or interactions with other artistes that could attract negative publicity.
He also said he prefers to promote his music through the quality of his work rather than relying on publicity stunts, gimmicks or controversial moments to attract attention.

“They don’t know me enough to misunderstand me. I don’t give them enough personality or gist into my personal life. I don’t have scandals, I don’t relate with other artistes, I don’t sell my music with gimmicks,” the singer said.
Meanwhile, Fireboy has also recalled some of the experiences that frightened him when he first relocated to Lagos to pursue his ambition of becoming a professional musician.
Speaking during a recent livestream, the singer said the city initially overwhelmed him and exposed him to situations he had never experienced before.
He recalled seeing someone running mad and encountering dead bodies on the streets, experiences that left him terrified.
Fireboy also said the presence of cultists and the appearance and behaviour of some Lagos residents contributed to his fears when he first arrived in the city.
Despite the difficult experiences, he said he refused to abandon his dream.
The singer eventually adapted to Lagos and continued pursuing his music career, which has since established him as one of Nigeria’s successful contemporary artistes.
