Kola Olaiya Accuses Pete Edochie of Being Too Proud to Honour Industry Leaders

Veteran actor Kola Olaiya has criticised fellow thespian Pete Edochie for failing to acknowledge older theatre practitioners who paved the way in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Speaking in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, Olaiya said Edochie should recognise the contributions of veterans who began their careers long before him.

He said, “I have known him for a long time; that pride is in his blood. That is why he cannot pay homage to the elders that made him.”

Olaiya pointed to the late theatre icon Hubert Ogunde as one of the industry’s earliest pioneers, noting that Ogunde entered theatre in 1944 after leaving the police force and had already made a name for himself with films and hit songs before Edochie was born.

“Ogunde had been acting before Pete was born. After that, people like Oyin Adejobi, Duro Ladipo, and Kola Ogunmola joined. Where was Pete Edochie then?” he asked.

He argued that while Edochie may be a leading figure in the Southeast, the same doesn’t hold for the whole country.
Olaiya also reflected on his time working with Ogunde, whom he described as a father figure who contributed significantly to his life and career.

He disclosed that he eventually resigned from Ogunde’s theatre group after disputes over car acquisitions for members.

He said he initially thought the vehicles were gifts, but fellow member Baba Sala later told him they were purchased through loans Ogunde facilitated.

He added that although salaries were increased at the time, he later discovered that four naira were being deducted from their earnings.

Despite the circumstances that led to his departure, Olaiya said he remains grateful to Ogunde for the support and opportunities he enjoyed under him.

Uche Ogbodo Says Men Always Make Excuses for Their Bad Behaviour

Uche Ogbodo Blasts Men Who Make Excuses for Infidelity, Urges Women to Know Their Worth

Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has criticised men who make excuses for infidelity and irresponsible behaviour, urging couples to embrace fairness, mutual respect and accountability in their marriages.

The actress made the remarks in an interview with Saturday Beats, where she described herself as an advocate of equal responsibility in marriage and healthy relationships.

Ogbodo argued that men should not expect their partners to remain faithful while engaging in extramarital affairs themselves. According to her, sexual desires should not be used as justification for unfaithfulness because individuals have the ability to control their actions.

“I am an advocate for 50-50 in marriage. If you want me to be faithful to you, stay faithful to me,” she said.

Questioning why some men justify their behaviour, she added, “Why do men always make excuses for their failure? They always make excuses for their stupid behaviours.”

The actress also advised women experiencing unhappiness in their relationships to recognise their worth, practise self-love and establish clear boundaries.

She maintained that women should understand their needs and identify the behaviours they cannot tolerate in a relationship rather than remain in situations that undermine their happiness.

“I am not an advocate for suffering and smiling. If it is not working, you don’t have to die there,” she stated.

Ogbodo further warned that abuse within relationships extends beyond physical violence, noting that emotional and psychological mistreatment can damage a person’s confidence and self-esteem.

She explained that making a woman feel inferior, worthless or less desirable than another partner could constitute psychological abuse.

However, the actress acknowledged that some men understand the responsibilities of marriage and maintain discipline in their relationships.

Her comments highlight the importance of fidelity, emotional well-being, mutual accountability and recognising unhealthy relationship patterns.

Kosoko made the remarks during an interview with actress Biola Bayo, where he questioned claims of widespread hunger and hardship across the country.

“Things aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. I am hungry; check most of those people. Before Tinubu came, what were they eating?” he said.

Damilola Adegbite Explains Why Men Should Be Allowed to Cry

Actress Damilola Adegbite has challenged the notion that men should suppress their emotions, saying crying does not make a man less masculine.

The actress stated this in a video shared on her Instagram page, where she reacted to a viral clip of a man who repeatedly insisted he was a man after being asked if he was crying.

In the video, Adegbite questioned why society expects men to hide their feelings because of their gender.
According to her, she does not subscribe to the idea that men should not cry.

Adegbite explained that men have been conditioned to appear strong and bottle up their vulnerabilities even when going through emotional difficulties.

She said if her own partner broke down in tears, she would comfort him and allow him to express himself without judgment.

She further called for safe spaces where men can openly discuss their feelings without fear of ridicule, warning that constantly suppressing emotions can lead to anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges.

The actress urged men to avoid relationships and environments where they cannot express themselves freely, stressing that emotional vulnerability should not be mistaken for weakness.
