Damilola Adegbite Explains Why Men Should Be Allowed to Cry

Actress Damilola Adegbite has challenged the notion that men should suppress their emotions, saying crying does not make a man less masculine.

The actress stated this in a video shared on her Instagram page, where she reacted to a viral clip of a man who repeatedly insisted he was a man after being asked if he was crying.

In the video, Adegbite questioned why society expects men to hide their feelings because of their gender.
According to her, she does not subscribe to the idea that men should not cry.

“I do not subscribe to the idea that men should not cry,” she said.
The actress argued that crying is a natural human response and should not be seen as a sign of weakness.
“God forbid, crying should make you feel like less of a man,” she added.

Adegbite explained that men have been conditioned to appear strong and bottle up their vulnerabilities even when going through emotional difficulties.

She said if her own partner broke down in tears, she would comfort him and allow him to express himself without judgment.

She further called for safe spaces where men can openly discuss their feelings without fear of ridicule, warning that constantly suppressing emotions can lead to anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges.

The actress urged men to avoid relationships and environments where they cannot express themselves freely, stressing that emotional vulnerability should not be mistaken for weakness.

Uzor Arukwe Says Marriage Places More Responsibilities on Women

Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has argued that marriage places greater responsibilities on women, insisting that a woman’s worth should not be measured by whether she is married.

The actor shared his views during an appearance on the In My Opinion podcast, in a video clip circulated on Instagram.

According to Arukwe, women bear significant physical and social responsibilities in marriage, including pregnancy, childbirth and adopting their husbands’ surnames.

He explained that these considerations have made him reluctant to strongly advocate for marriage without acknowledging the demands it places on women.

“I’ve never really been an advocate of marriage because I feel like it’s more tasking for the woman. She’s the one that bears the child. She takes your last name. A lot of things happen,” he said.

Arukwe added that society was gradually recognising that marriage does not determine a woman’s identity, success or personal value.

“So, I feel society is now beginning to catch on to the fact that marriage doesn’t define or make a woman,” he stated.

The actor also reflected on the societal expectations women have historically faced regarding marriage and motherhood.

He recalled how women who remained unmarried at 25 or 30 were frequently questioned, with older generations often comparing their experiences and pointing out that they already had several children at the same age.

However, Arukwe observed that attitudes were changing, with some women now deliberately choosing to remain unmarried or not have children.

He disclosed that he had personally encountered two or three women who did not want children.

His comments have highlighted changing attitudes towards marriage, personal independence and the freedom of women to make decisions about their futures without societal pressure.

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has reflected on the importance of living intentionally, saying life is too short to be consumed by regrets, bitterness and postponed happiness.

The actress shared her thoughts in an Instagram post following the death of gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, whose passing has sparked mourning across the entertainment industry.

Nkechi Blessing said the experience had reinforced her belief that people should appreciate life, release emotional burdens and make the most of the opportunities available to them.

“I am learning that life is too short to live in regret, carry bitterness, beg for love, or postpone happiness while waiting for everything to be perfect,” she wrote.

The actress added that she had chosen to move forward, not because life had always been easy, but because she deserved the freedom that comes with letting go of painful experiences.

She also expressed her determination to embrace happiness, travel, dress beautifully, celebrate personal achievements and create meaningful memories.

Nkechi Blessing said she no longer wanted to spend her entire life merely surviving when she could also enjoy its beautiful moments.

Her reflection comes amid reports that Toluwanisings died on Wednesday, October 14, after reportedly slumping in Ibadan.

The singer’s death has renewed conversations about life’s unpredictability, with the actress encouraging people to appreciate their present blessings rather than continually waiting for perfect circumstances.

Amanda Oruh Urges Men to Always Seek Consent Before Sex

Nollywood actress Amanda Oruh has urged men to always obtain a woman’s consent before engaging in sexual activity, stressing that a person’s sexual history does not remove their right to refuse intimacy.

Oruh, known for her role in King of Boys, emphasised that consent must be obtained regardless of how many sexual partners a woman may have had.

“I don’t care if she slept with 5,000 men; if she didn’t consent to the 5,001st man, it is a rape,” the actress said.

She further encouraged men to make consent an essential part of every sexual encounter, stating: “You should always ask a woman for consent – men.”

Beyond the subject of relationships and personal boundaries, Oruh also shared her thoughts on marriage, revealing that self-discovery currently matters more to her than finding a romantic partner.

“My death is more guaranteed than my wedding, so instead of looking for my soulmate, I’m going to look for my soul,” she said.

Veteran Nigerian rapper, Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, has opened up on why he is still unmarried at 52. NigerianCulture Magazine

The rapper said his demanding music career and the collapse of a five-year relationship contributed to his single status.

Ruggedman, who spoke during a recent radio interview, said he had always wanted to get married and have children but was determined not to have a child outside wedlock.

According to the rapper, he entered the Nigerian music industry at a time when artists had to rely heavily on their hustle, a journey he said consumed much of his time.

“I am one of those who got into the industry back in the day where all we had was our hustle and we faced it and before you know it, time was gone,” he said. Ruggedman noted that while some of his contemporaries found partners who were willing to journey with them through their careers, his experience was different.
“2baba was lucky to have found partners who were ready to walk that road with him, I wasn’t that lucky,” he said.
The rapper disclosed that he was once in a five-year relationship which he believed would eventually lead to marriage, but the relationship ended after an unspecified incident. “I had a five year relationship that I thought would lead to marriage but something happened and it crashed,” he said.

Ojay shared the experience during a recent mother-and-son interview with Pulse Nigeria, explaining that he had underestimated his mother’s celebrity status until an unexpected incident at a popular Lagos nightclub changed his perception.

According to him, he had returned to Nigeria from the United States for a holiday and decided to celebrate his birthday at Quilox nightclub. What was supposed to be a personal celebration, however, turned into an eye-opening experience when guests and other club patrons began anticipating his mother’s arrival.

Ojay said he was confused by the unusual excitement and the way the club’s management appeared to be controlling the situation.

He explained that people kept telling him not to worry when he questioned what was happening, revealing that the excitement was connected to his mother.

According to Ojay, many people believed the veteran actress was coming specifically to celebrate her son’s birthday, making her anticipated appearance a major attraction.
