Kunle Remi Shares How Fatherhood Has Reshaped His Perspective On Life

Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has opened up about how becoming a father has changed his outlook on life and influenced the way he approaches certain aspects of his acting career.

Remi made the revelation during a conversation with media personality VJ Adams, who asked the actor about the changes he had experienced in his perspective since welcoming his child.

Responding, Remi explained that fatherhood had introduced a new sense of responsibility and significantly altered the way he views different aspects of life.

“Ah, it’s different when you become responsible for a human being. My perspective changed in different aspects,” the actor said.

Remi also discussed how becoming a father has affected his attitude towards performing stunts, an aspect of his profession that he has previously embraced.

According to the actor, he has always enjoyed doing his own stunts and taking on physically demanding roles. However, having a child has made him more conscious of the risks associated with such activities.

“As an actor, right, I’ve always wanted to be – I do my stunts,” he said while explaining the shift in his approach.

The actor further highlighted the impact of having a daughter, suggesting that his responsibilities as a parent now influence how he assesses professional risks.

“I have a daughter now, man,” he added.

Although Remi remains committed to his acting career and passion for challenging performances, his comments suggest that fatherhood has introduced a greater sense of caution.

For the actor, the responsibility of raising a child has brought a new perspective to decisions that once appeared to involve only his personal ambitions and career.

Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Academy Concludes Pan-African Filmmaking Bootcamp

The 12-week KAP–SOPA Pan-African Filmmaking Bootcamp is set to conclude with a high-profile three-day graduation and film premiere designed to celebrate continental collaboration, professional mentorship and the future of African cinema.

The landmark initiative is a partnership between Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Film & Television Academy and the Government of the Republic of Benin through its audio-visual agency, SOPA. The programme is bringing together emerging creative talents from Benin and experienced professionals from across Africa and the international film industry.

The three-day event will attract prominent figures in global cinema, including Oscar-nominated filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako, veteran film curator and festival director Keith Shiri, acclaimed filmmaker and media entrepreneur Femi Odugbemi, and internationally renowned producer Virginie Besson-Silla.

The event will take place at the KAP Film Village & Resort in Nigeria, following an intensive 12-week training programme that combined classroom instruction with practical filmmaking experience.

Twenty young Beninese creatives selected for the programme are expected to unveil original short films produced during the training. Their works represent the culmination of a journey that began with four weeks of intensive theoretical training in Cotonou, Benin, before participants moved to Nigeria for a hands-on production residency.

The programme was established under a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year between the relevant partners. Its organisers say the collaboration was designed to address some of the gaps within Africa’s film industry by providing young creatives with professional training, practical production experience and opportunities to build cross-border networks.

Kunle Afolayan, founder of the KAP Group, said the initiative was conceived to encourage African filmmakers to think beyond national boundaries and explore the continent as an interconnected creative ecosystem.

“This program was conceptualized to transcend borders,” Afolayan said.

He explained that combining Beninese artistic heritage with Nigeria’s established film-production infrastructure would create opportunities for a new generation of filmmakers to collaborate and develop projects across African markets.

According to him, the programme is intended to encourage participants to see Africa not as a collection of isolated film markets but as a broader creative space capable of supporting collaboration and shared growth.

The graduation and premiere will go beyond the formal presentation of certificates, with the organisers describing the gathering as a major convergence of filmmakers, government officials, diplomats, cultural leaders and industry stakeholders from Nigeria, Benin and the wider African diaspora.

The three-day programme is expected to provide opportunities for participants and industry professionals to interact, exchange ideas and discuss issues shaping the development of African cinema.

In addition to celebrating the achievements of the bootcamp participants, the KAP Group is expected to use the occasion to announce another major initiative — ITAN, The Screen Gathering and Awards.

The annual Pan-African film conference is scheduled to launch in 2027 and is intended to create a recurring platform for conversations around key issues affecting the continent’s film and creative industries.

Afolayan said the proposed platform would focus on areas including film financing, press release distribution, policy harmonisation and technological advancement.

The conference is expected to bring together filmmakers, producers, policymakers, investors, media organisations and other stakeholders to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation and creating sustainable opportunities within Africa’s rapidly evolving film ecosystem.

The KAP–SOPA bootcamp and the proposed ITAN conference reflect a broader emphasis on cross-border collaboration within Africa’s creative sector. By connecting emerging filmmakers with established professionals and production resources, the organisers hope to create pathways for skills development and greater interaction between different African film industries.

As the participants prepare to present their short films at KAP Film Village & Resort, the graduation will serve both as the culmination of their 12-week training and as a platform for broader conversations about the future of African cinema.

Afolayan said the events would demonstrate the potential of structured creative partnerships across the continent and provide a platform for showcasing the capabilities of emerging African filmmakers.

You can have a bad season and still have a good life. Some days, you can have it together; some days, you will not.
“Some days, you can wake up feeling on top of the world; some days, you’ll feel like your whole world is crashing down. But guess what? That doesn’t make you less of a person. You can be struggling right now, but don’t let one chapter of your story convince you of how your story ends”, he added.

‘Make Life Easy for Nigerians’ – Lagos Pastor Tasks Hamzat Ahead of Governorship

Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC), Bolaji Idowu, has appealed to Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, to prioritise the welfare of Nigerians amid the rising cost of living.

Hamzat, who is seeking the Lagos State governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), visited HICC with his running mate, Damilola Solayo James, as part of his campaign and outreach activities.

Speaking from the pulpit during the visit, Pastor Bolaji directly appealed to Hamzat to ensure that the economic burden on residents is reduced if he becomes governor.

“If you emerge as Governor, sir, ejo sir, let it be easy. Nigerians are going through difficult times. Things are really tough at the moment. Even if you win the governorship election or someone else wins, all we want is for the hardship to be reduced,” the pastor said.

Hamzat responded with a smile as the cleric stressed that the ultimate measure of leadership should be its positive impact on citizens rather than political victory.

The interaction has since generated reactions on social media, with video clips of the exchange attracting widespread attention.

Some Nigerians praised Pastor Bolaji for using the opportunity to highlight the economic difficulties facing ordinary citizens and for speaking directly to a political leader.

However, others questioned the growing presence of politicians in religious centres during election periods. Some also argued that religious leaders should maintain a distance from partisan politics.

The exchange has nevertheless renewed discussions about the role of religious institutions in addressing economic hardship and holding political leaders accountable to the people they seek to govern.

Tyler Perry Reveals Why He’ll Never Get Married

American actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry has revealed that he has no plans to get married, saying the financial and legal consequences of divorce have influenced his decision.

The 57-year-old entertainment mogul, who has never been married, made the disclosure during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show while promoting his latest movie, Why Did I Get Married Again?, which premiered on Netflix on September 9.

Perry told host Jennifer Hudson that his decision was largely inspired by what he described as a “divorce pandemic,” claiming that he has seen people lose significant wealth following the breakdown of their marriages.

“I’m never marrying. And it’s actually the divorce pandemic that is happening. Everybody that I know that is doing well went broke because of divorce,” Perry said.

He stressed that his position does not mean he has lost faith in love or companionship. Rather, he said he wants to protect what he has built and avoid the financial and legal complications that could accompany a divorce.

Perry also said that growing older has changed his outlook on life, making him more interested in slowing down and spending quality time with his family.

“It’s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in,” he said.

The filmmaker shares an 11-year-old son, Aman, with his former partner, Gelila Bekele. The pair were in a relationship from 2009 until 2020.

Perry further revealed that he plans to relocate to Puerto Rico with Aman at the beginning of 2027. He also intends to significantly reduce his demanding Hollywood workload and “pull back a whole lot.”

His latest project, Why Did I Get Married Again?, is the third instalment of a franchise that has explored marriage, infidelity and divorce since its launch in 2007.

Despite his decision to remain unmarried, Perry maintained that he still believes in love and partnership, but does not see marriage as the right legal commitment for him at this stage of his life.

BBNaija S11: Evicted Housemates Could Shake Up Front-Runners’ Race for N160m

With just three weeks left in BBNaija Season 11, ‘Show Ya Sef’, and 13 housemates still competing for the N160 million grand prize, evicted housemates are increasingly emerging as a major threat to the frontrunners.

Their influence extends beyond the house as their large fanbases, media appearances and social media platforms can significantly alter the competition’s dynamics.

One major factor is fanbase merger. Fans of evicted housemates often rally behind their preferred remaining contestants, creating powerful voting blocs that could boost an underdog’s chances in the final weeks.

Evicted housemates also wield considerable endorsement power. Their public support for a particular contestant can influence followers and undecided viewers, potentially changing voting patterns.

Another factor is their ability to reveal strategies and secrets after leaving the show. Interviews may expose alliances, romantic relationships and betrayals, potentially damaging the reputation of frontrunners.

Meanwhile, former housemates can fuel social media campaign wars, mobilising fan pages, influencers and followers to support or oppose contestants.

As the finale approaches, evicted housemates may also play a jury-like role, shaping public narratives about who deserves the N160 million prize. Their opinions could ultimately influence undecided voters and reshape the race.

I’m grateful for the lessons, the growth, the moments I understand, and even the ones I still don’t.

“I honestly wouldn’t change the journey, because somehow, it brought me exactly where I am today. To the people I’m with, the love I’ve found, and the peace I’ve always longed for. Thank you, Yahweh! Thank you for the man I’ve become and the man I’m still becoming”, he wrote.

How Digital Creators Are Reshaping Nigeria’s Fashion Space

In Nigeria’s rapidly evolving creative industry, social media has become more than a platform for entertainment. It has emerged as a powerful launchpad for discovering talent, building personal brands and creating opportunities across fashion, beauty and entertainment.

One emerging personality taking advantage of that changing landscape is Christian Abang, a beauty and lifestyle content creator whose journey from social media videos to the fashion runway reflects the growing influence of Nigeria’s creator economy. NigeriaNews Subscription

Abang began creating digital content in 2021, experimenting with beauty, fashion, lifestyle, humour and everyday experiences. What started largely as a creative outlet gradually developed into a growing online presence, as his personality-driven content began attracting attention from audiences beyond his immediate social media community.

By 2022, some of his videos had started gaining significant traction, with notable Nigerian entertainment and social media platforms reposting his content.

One of his early breakthroughs came when Kraks TV reposted one of his videos, exposing him to a wider audience. Popular media personality Tunde Ednut later amplified his content, while platforms and entertainment blogs, including YabaLeftOnline, also helped to increase his visibility.

For Abang, however, viral moments were not simply isolated successes. They became stepping stones towards developing a recognisable personal brand.

Abang’s content has largely been defined by versatility. He has explored beauty, fashion, humour, lifestyle and personal experiences, rather than limiting himself to a single content format.

That flexibility has allowed audiences to see different sides of his personality while giving him room to evolve as a creator.

One moment that drew further attention was a viral video about an unexpected encounter with his examinations officer. The humorous incident generated online interest and showed Abang’s ability to turn an ordinary experience into engaging content.

The death of his mother introduced a more personal dimension to his online presence. A video documenting the difficult period resonated with audiences and offered followers a glimpse into his life beyond beauty, fashion and entertainment.

The contrast in his content—from humorous everyday experiences to deeply personal moments—has become part of his identity as a digital creator.

From Social Media to the Runway: Abang’s growing visibility eventually extended beyond the digital space.

In December 2025, he took another important step in his creative journey by participating in African Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) x Made By Nigerians (MBN) Fest. NigeriaNews Subscription

The two-day fashion event, held on December 20 and 21 at the J. Randle Centre in Onikan, Lagos, brought together designers, models, entertainers, digital creators and other personalities within Nigeria’s creative ecosystem.

Abang walked the runway for Shakara Brand, alongside personalities including former Big Brother Naija housemates and other recognised figures in Nigeria’s entertainment and fashion scene.

The runway appearance represented more than a fashion showcase. It marked a transition from digital content creation into a more visible role within the physical creative economy.

For a creator whose initial recognition was built largely through social media, appearing on a professional fashion runway demonstrated the expanding possibilities that digital influence can create.

Abang’s journey mirrors a wider transformation in Nigeria’s entertainment and fashion industries.

Traditionally, aspiring models, entertainers and media personalities often depended on established gatekeepers such as television stations, newspapers, modelling agencies, record labels and entertainment companies to gain public visibility.

Today, an individual can create content independently, build an audience, develop a recognisable identity and attract opportunities without necessarily passing through traditional industry structures.

This has produced a new generation of Nigerian creatives whose careers cut across several fields.

The boundaries between influencer, model, entertainer, content creator and fashion personality are increasingly becoming less rigid.

Creators are no longer only documenting the culture around them. Many are actively participating in the industries that they once observed from the outside.

Abang’s transition from making online content to appearing on a fashion runway reflects this emerging trend.

While viral content can provide an important breakthrough, sustaining a career in the creator economy requires consistency, adaptability and the ability to build an identity beyond individual posts.

Abang’s journey demonstrates this progression.

Reposts from Kraks TV, Tunde Ednut, YabaLeftOnline, and other digital platforms helped increase his early visibility. However, his continued exploration of beauty, fashion, lifestyle, and personal storytelling has laid the foundation for a broader creative identity.

His runway appearance further strengthened that evolution.

Rather than remaining solely behind the camera, Abang has increasingly become part of the creative experiences he represents.

Christian Abang’s story is still unfolding, but his journey so far illustrates the possibilities available to young Nigerian creatives in the digital age.

He began creating content in 2021. By 2022, his videos were attracting viral attention and being amplified by prominent Nigerian digital entertainment platforms and personalities. By 2025, that online visibility had extended to the fashion runway through his appearance at African Fashion Week Nigeria x Made By Nigerians Fest.

The progression—from content creation to virality, digital amplification and fashion participation—highlights the growing relationship between Nigeria’s creator economy and the wider creative industry.
