MicDailie: Make This Dough Kicks Off “Across Seas Mixtape” Campaign

MicDailie’s Make This Dough marks the beginning of the promotional campaign for the Nigerian Hip-Hop Artist & Lyricist’s upcoming mixtape, Across Seas, with the release of the song’s official video.

“Make This Dough” is a collaborative project between MicDailie and Johnwooh, a France-based producer. The two connected online during the COVID-19 pandemic through their mutual friend, Kendrick Okafor, popularly known as Uncle Rasta.

According to MicDailie, the online connection eventually developed into a working relationship, with Johnwooh sending him about 10 beats. MicDailie began writing to the beats, and the recording process gradually took shape around the material.

The songs created from those sessions would eventually form Across Seas, the forthcoming mixtape built from the collaboration between the Nigerian artiste and the France-based producer.

For MicDailie, “Make This Dough” serves as the official single and video chosen to kick-start the promotion of Across Seas.

The artiste also shared how the song itself developed during the recording process. MicDailie explained that he initially wanted to leave “Make This Dough” without a chorus.

Rather than having a conventional hook, the track was originally intended to stand without one. However, during the recording process with Stoute Louis, the idea of adding a hook was introduced.

That suggestion eventually became the chorus that features on “Make This Dough.”

The development of the hook therefore became part of the creative process behind the song, adding another element to a track that had initially been conceived without a chorus.

With the release of the official video, MicDailie Make This Dough now serves as the first major release in the promotional rollout for Across Seas.

The song also highlights the international nature of the project, bringing together MicDailie’s work with Johnwooh, a producer based in France, following a connection that began online during the pandemic.

From an online introduction through Kendrick Okafor, to receiving beats from Johnwooh and writing songs that would eventually become a mixtape, the collaboration has now reached its next stage with the release of “Make This Dough.”

The track officially opens the promotional journey for Across Seas, with MicDailie introducing the project through its lead single and accompanying official video.
