Why Soludo’s Dancing Son Continues To Capture Nigerians’ Attention

While most of the children of Nigerian politicians prefer to stay away from the limelight, Ozonna Soludo, the first son of Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, popularly called “Baby Oku” by his fans, has chosen to do otherwise.

He is known for his shirtless dance videos, unconventional fashion sense, music career and outspoken personality. Ozonna has built a social media persona that often rivals his father’s political career for attention.

The singer, entrepreneur and fashion buff has more than 100,000 followers on Instagram and often posts dance videos, snippets of music and lifestyle content that ignite conversation among fans and critics alike.

His recent social media appearance has brought him back into the limelight, as he shared a video of himself dancing to a trending protest song critical of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In the video, Ozonna was seen wearing a campaign-branded shirt linked to his father while vibing to lyrics that were critical of the Tinubu administration and at some points, mentioned Governor Soludo.

Shame on you, Tinubu, all power is Jesus, the lyrics said.

The clip soon went viral on social media, with mixed reactions from Nigerians.Many people were first introduced to him as the son of his father, but Ozonna himself has always wanted to be known as an entertainer, not a politician.

In 2023, he came back to music with his single, Take It Slow, reigniting public interest in his music career.

Besides music, he has dabbled in entrepreneurship with his bead and jewellery brand, where he creates handcrafted necklaces and accessories that are often featured in his social media posts.

His pages also contain energetic dance videos, funny clips and self-expression that appeal to younger audiences.

Without a shirt, sporting unusual hairstyles and bold fashion statements, his unconventional style has made him one of the most recognisable offspring of Nigerian politicians on the internet. Ozonna has never been afraid to respond to criticism on his looks and lifestyle.
In a widely circulated video in 2025, he responded to online trolls questioning his dressing, lifestyle and the kind of content he posts.

In July 2025, Ozonna gave fans a glimpse of his relationship with his father as Soludo joined him in a dance challenge to promote his single, Big Flex.

The Anambra governor and his son danced side-by-side in matching traditional beads in a viral video that endeared him to many Nigerians and showed a more playful side of the governor not often seen in political spaces.

His father is a prominent politician but Ozonna has often said he should not be confused with the views of Soludo.

As the general election of 2023 came closer, he engaged in political arguments on the internet and publicly distanced himself from the political discourse.

The statement was notable in that it emphasized his desire to separate his own personal views from his father’s political office.

Ozonna was born on 11th of February 1994 in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. He is the first of six children.

He spent part of his childhood in the United States before moving to London where he studied Vocal Performance at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance.

Whether dancing to viral songs, releasing new music, promoting his bead brand or responding to critics, Ozonna has built a public identity that goes far beyond just being the son of a governor.
