Faith Akinola’s ‘The Letter’ Set for September 26 Premiere

Writer and producer Faith Akinola is set to present her latest stage production, The Letter, on September 26, 2026, under the banner of Mustard Tree Productions.

The stage play explores themes including identity, rejection, societal expectations, emotional healing and restoration, using the experiences of a young bride to examine the pressures that can accompany major life events.

Set within an atmosphere of celebration and family anticipation, The Letter follows its central character as she faces an unexpected disruption to what should have been one of the most significant moments of her life.

The story delves into the emotional consequences of disappointment while examining the influence of cultural expectations, unsolicited opinions and public scrutiny.

Through the experiences of the young bride, the production explores how individuals can navigate moments when personal hopes collide with the expectations of family and society.

The play features an ensemble of established and emerging performers, including veteran actresses Tina Mba and Kate Henshaw. Oluchi Odi and Mich Straw are also part of the cast, alongside other performers.

According to the production concept, The Letter uses theatre, music and storytelling to examine the emotional journey from rejection to resilience and, ultimately, restoration.

The September 26 staging is expected to bring together theatre enthusiasts and audiences interested in contemporary Nigerian storytelling.

With its combination of dramatic performance, music and emotional storytelling, the production seeks to provide an engaging reflection on identity, relationships and the pressures created by social expectations.

Akinola’s latest project adds to her work in storytelling and live production, with The Letter using the stage as a platform to explore experiences that can affect individuals and families during important moments in their lives.

The production will take place on September 26, 2026.
