Drake Suffers Over N2 Billion Betting Loss After Argentina’s World Cup Final Defeat

Canadian rapper and Grammy Award winner Drake has lost a staggering $1.5 million bet after Argentina fell 1-0 to Spain in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, adding another chapter to his string of high-profile betting losses.

The music superstar, born Aubrey Drake Graham, had backed defending champions Argentina to overcome Spain in Sunday’s World Cup final. He placed the multimillion-dollar wager through the online betting platform Stake, hoping to cash in on an Argentine victory.

Had Lionel Scaloni’s side successfully defended their title, Drake’s $1.5 million stake would have earned him a payout of more than $5.1 million. However, Spain dashed those hopes by securing a dramatic extra-time victory.

The tightly contested final remained goalless throughout regulation time before substitute Ferran Torres netted the decisive goal in the 106th minute, handing Spain a historic 1-0 win and its second FIFA World Cup title.
