Phyna, Nkechi Blessing Take Social Media Clash to Boxing Ring

Reality TV star Phyna and Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing are set to settle their recent social media disagreement in the boxing ring when they face off in a celebrity bout scheduled for October 1 in Lagos.

The contest, tagged “Phyna vs Nkechi,” will take place at the Federal Palace Hotel as part of Balmoral Group Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” series.

Organisers announced the matchup on Friday, September 18, alongside promotional materials showing both entertainers in boxing gear ahead of the Independence Day event.

The announcement comes after a public exchange between Phyna and Nkechi Blessing on social media. Nkechi had criticised Phyna over her involvement in online disputes, prompting a response from the reality TV star.

Phyna questioned why the actress had chosen to address her publicly, while also explaining that the two had previously communicated over a movie project.

The planned bout now moves their online disagreement from social media to a live entertainment event, giving fans an opportunity to watch both personalities compete in the ring.

The fight will be part of the broader “Chaos in the Ring” programme, which combines boxing with celebrity entertainment and has previously featured popular entertainers.

Previous editions of the series have included Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe. Carter Efe defeated Portable by unanimous decision in May, while Charles Okocha secured victory in their subsequent rematch in July.

The October 1 event is also expected to attract audiences beyond the venue, with organisers announcing live broadcast coverage on DAZN and SuperSport.

The Phyna-Nkechi matchup highlights the growing intersection between Nigerian celebrity culture, social media personalities and live boxing entertainment.

As of Saturday, organisers had yet to release details of the undercard and ticketing arrangements for the highly anticipated celebrity bout.
