Olaide Olabanji Accuses Nigerian Actors of Supporting Bad Politicians for Personal Gains
Nollywood actor Olaide Olabanji has condemned some of his colleagues for endorsing politicians he said contribute little to the country’s development.
The actor took to Instagram on Thursday to express concern for the wellbeing of Nigerians, especially sick entertainers while also questioning the state of the nation’s healthcare.
Olaide, who refused to name names, slammed actors for not using their platforms to speak against bad governance. He also warned of the effect that the decisions made today could have on their children.
The actor also mentioned unnamed colleagues who allegedly helped politicians distribute food items like rice and beans during election campaigns, asking what they had done with the money they were paid during the 2023 general elections.
“We contributed to where Nigeria is today. But we keep on aiding evil. The nonchalant behavior has put many Nollywood stars on sick beds today. So many of us have the opportunity to speak truth to power, but we don’t because of our stomach infrastructure.

“If many of us told the truth to our government, maybe by now they would have given Nigerians good hospitals. If Nigeria is well governed, they will have different hospitals that will treat different diseases and no one will go abroad for treatment.
“Nigeria deserves good health system, good electricity supply, good roads and adequate security. Many of the bad leaders you are supporting today do not go to Nigerian hospitals for treatment. They take their children and family members abroad for medical care. We have the facilities to refer them overseas for standard headaches.
“Where do we go when we sick? If any actor falls sick, we go to social media and try to raise money for them. Is that what it’s supposed to be? Tell the truth to Nigerian leaders. The citizens are hungry, there is hardship in Nigeria but you refuse to speak up because of your stomach infrastructure.

“We have seen actors sharing rice and beans on behalf of the government. They became the servants of politicians. Is the money they paid you in 2023 still useful to you? The fuel price is now N1,400, but we keep supporting them. You forget you have children.
