‘Breaking Bad’ Actor RJ Mitte Dies at 34

American actor RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter White Jr. in the award-winning television series Breaking Bad, has reportedly died at the age of 34.

Mitte died on Monday, October 12, 2026, in Brownsville, Texas, according to information attributed to local authorities and his representatives.

His representatives confirmed the development to CBS News but did not reveal the cause of death. A Cameron County official also disclosed that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the actor’s death was ongoing.

Mitte became internationally recognised through his portrayal of Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s character, Walter White, in Breaking Bad. In 2014, he received the SAG-AFTRA Howard Russell Award, which recognises contributions to disability representation. He also served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.

Mitte featured in other productions, including The Recall and The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!). He also served as president of The Mitte Foundation, a family charity based in Austin, Texas, that supports marginalised communities in South Texas.

His representative described him as a beloved actor, philanthropist and passionate disability rights advocate.

The reported death comes about a year after Mitte became engaged to his girlfriend, Kennedy Suarez, during the 2025 Dia del Sol benefit in Carlsbad, California, which raised funds for United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego.
