Secky Joins Advocacy Campaign for Migrant Workers’ Rights in the UK

Nigerian-born, UK-based artist Chimezie Enwerem, popularly known as Secky, has become involved in advocacy efforts on racism, immigration, and the rights of migrant workers in the United Kingdom.

Secky’s advocacy has included engagement with UNISON, a UK public-sector trade union, the Fair Visa Campaign, and Members of Parliament.

The Fair Visa Campaign focuses on the challenges migrant care workers face when their immigration status is tied to their employment. UNISON has advocated reforms that would give migrant workers greater freedom to change employers and reduce their vulnerability to exploitation and mistreatment.
Secky’s involvement in the campaign reflects his broader interest in issues affecting migrants and Black communities in the UK.

He has also engaged with MPs on racism, immigration, and workers’ rights.
Among those he has interacted with is Hamish Falconer, the MP for Lincoln, where Secky is based. Falconer was elected in July 2024.
The engagements have provided an avenue for Secky to raise concerns about the experiences of migrant workers and Black communities, particularly in relation to workplace treatment, immigration rules and equality.

Secky released his single, ‘Black’, on October 3, 2025. The song addresses themes of Black identity, pride and representation.

While the song explores identity through music, his involvement in anti-racism and migrant workers’ rights campaigns focuses on workplace treatment, immigration, and equality.

Secky has also received correspondence from Buckingham Palace as part of his UK activities. The correspondence should not be interpreted as a royal endorsement, award or official recognition unless such a description is expressly contained in the letter.

Through his music and advocacy, Secky has continued to participate in discussions about racism, migrant workers’ rights, and equality in the UK.

His involvement with UNISON, the Fair Visa Campaign and parliamentary engagements reflects his interest in raising awareness of issues affecting migrants and Black communities.
