Doris Ogala Remanded in Ikoyi Prison Over Alleged Cyberbullying of Chris Okafor
A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of Nollywood actress Doris Ogala at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the hearing of her bail application.
Ogala appeared before the court on Wednesday to answer four charges bordering on the alleged publication of personal materials without consent, dissemination of false information, cyberbullying and attempted extortion. The charges were filed by Chris Okafor, founder of Mountain of Liberty and Miracle Ministry.
The case had previously been stalled for two consecutive sittings because of the actress’s absence. At Wednesday’s proceedings, she pleaded not guilty to all four counts.
The prosecution counsel, Tolulope Mokolu, asked the court to remand Ogala, explaining that he needed time to review and respond to the bail application, which he had only recently received.
However, defence counsel N. C. Atulomah opposed the request and urged the court to grant his client bail. He told the court that Ogala was a governorship candidate of a political party in Abia State and assured the judge that she would attend subsequent proceedings.
In his ruling, Justice Akintayo Aluko held that the defence had not provided sufficient grounds to justify her immediate release. He nevertheless directed that the bail application be heard on an accelerated basis.

The judge ordered Ogala’s remand and adjourned the matter until October 30 for the hearing of her bail application.
Tension reportedly erupted in court when the actress insisted on addressing the judge despite attempts by her lawyer and others to calm her down.
“This is Nigeria, they are using government power to oppress me. My boyfriend is using government power to oppress me,” she shouted.
The judge eventually rose for the day after proceedings became uncontrollable.
In a subsequent Instagram post, Ogala alleged that religious figures Chris Okafor, Jerry Eze and Suleman Johnson, alongside Abia State Governor Alex Otti, were responsible for her remand. She claimed they feared that she would reveal information about them. The allegations remain her claims.
