Davido Releases Sixth Studio Album ‘ORIADÉ,’ Marks New Chapter in 15-Year Music Journey

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially released his sixth studio album, ORIADÉ, describing the project as the beginning of a new chapter in his remarkable 15-year career in the music industry.

The highly anticipated album, which dropped on July 31, 2026, contains 13 tracks, making it Davido’s shortest studio album to date. The project breaks away from the 17-track format that defined each of his previous five studio albums, signalling a fresh creative direction for the award-winning singer.

ORIADÉ features an impressive lineup of African and international collaborators, including Leon Thomas, Black Sherif, Aya Nakamura, Mayorkun, FOLA, Llona, NO11, JAZZWRLD, and GL_Ceejay. The diverse guest appearances reflect Davido’s commitment to blending Afrobeats with global sounds while showcasing emerging and established talents.

The singer first announced the album on June 29, revealing its release date through a cinematic social media video in which he appeared dressed in regal Yoruba attire. The visual was accompanied by a traditional Yoruba eulogy that echoed the meaning and cultural significance of the album’s title.

“The kingdom expands. Chosen long before the throne,” Davido wrote in the caption, hinting at the personal and artistic evolution behind the project.

Beyond the music, ORIADÉ is expected to usher in another major phase of Davido’s career. The singer has already confirmed plans for a global tour in support of the album, with fans anticipating surprise guest appearances and memorable performances across different countries.

Ahead of the album’s release, Davido introduced fans to its sound with the lead single “I Know Who I Be,” featuring South African duo JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay. The reflective track celebrates his 15-year journey in the music industry, highlighting the milestones, challenges and achievements that have shaped his career.

The song’s accompanying music video takes viewers back to Davido’s childhood home, where his musical journey began, while featuring appearances from longtime collaborators and members of his team who have supported his rise to global stardom.

Another pre-release single, “Gimme Dat Ting,” featuring NO11, fuses Afrobeats with Amapiano rhythms. The energetic track centres on themes of confidence, ambition, success and perseverance, reflecting the singer’s outlook after years of dominating the African music scene.

Speaking in a recent interview with American media platform Notion, Davido explained that ORIADÉ was intentionally designed to appeal to a broad audience, with songs tailored to different tastes and moods.

The release marks Davido’s sixth studio album and seventh major body of work since he burst onto Nigeria’s mainstream music scene over a decade ago. It follows a string of commercially successful projects that have cemented his status as one of Africa’s biggest global music stars.

With ORIADÉ, Davido once again demonstrates his ability to evolve creatively while staying true to his roots, offering fans a fresh sound as he embarks on the next phase of his celebrated career.
