Chidimma Adetshina Faces Deportation Battle After Arrest Over Alleged Immigration Violations in South Africa

Former Miss Universe Nigeria and Miss South Africa finalist Chidimma Adetshina is at the center of a growing legal battle in South Africa after her recent arrest over alleged immigration violations, reigniting the controversy surrounding her citizenship and residency status.

Adetshina was arrested in June 2026 in the Summer Greens area of Cape Town by South African immigration authorities. Following her arrest, she appeared before the Cape Town Regional Court on allegations that she unlawfully entered and resided in South Africa despite previously being declared a prohibited person under the country’s Immigration Act.

Authorities allege that Adetshina, who was officially banned from entering South Africa on December 19, 2024, illegally re-entered the country through the Lebombo border post from Mozambique. According to the Department of Home Affairs, she allegedly gained entry by misrepresenting her nationality to immigration officials.

Although the beauty queen has since been released on warning pending further legal proceedings, the case remains active, with prosecutors seeking her deportation.
