BBNaija S11: Gerard Reveals Why He Was Depressed and Ended Relationship With Kamsy

The newly evicted Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate, Gerard, has opened up about the emotional struggles he experienced during his time on the reality show.

Gerard revealed that he battled depression in the house after becoming convinced that his journey on the show would end as early as the third week. According to him, the fear of being evicted so soon affected his mental state and made him question how viewers would remember his time on the programme.

Speaking about his experience in an interview, Gerard said he was particularly worried that his relationship with fellow housemate Kamsy would overshadow his individual identity. He explained that he did not want to leave the show being remembered primarily as the man who was romantically involved with Kamsy.

Gerard said the pressure eventually pushed him to end their relationship because he feared the public would perceive him as someone who entered the Big Brother house mainly because of a woman.

He explained that after enduring significant stress before entering the house, he did not want his entire experience to be reduced to his relationship with Kamsy.

Gerard’s decision to end the relationship came shortly after an incident at a pool party involving Kamsy and another housemate, Chimsom. Reports had indicated that Kamsy danced intimately with Chimsom and later sat on his shoulder during the party.

The incident reportedly triggered Gerard’s jealousy, with the reality star expressing his displeasure over what he considered disrespectful behaviour.

Gerard subsequently accused Kamsy of being manipulative, further straining their relationship inside the house.

Despite the emotional challenges and uncertainty surrounding his stay, Gerard managed to remain in the competition beyond the week he initially feared he would be evicted. However, his eventual eviction has now brought his Big Brother Naija journey to an end, giving him an opportunity to reflect on the experiences and decisions that shaped his time on the show.
