Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tope Adenibuyan, popularly known as Teddy A, has spoken candidly about the deep emotional and reputational toll caused by false allegations that he physically abused his wife, Bamike “Bambam” Olawunmi-Adenibuyan.

In a recent interview, Teddy A described the claims — which accused him of beating his pregnant wife — as completely fabricated, shocking, and devastating for his family.

He recounted the day the rumours exploded online:

“I woke up, went downstairs, and my wife was there watching a movie. She was pregnant and laughing. There was no sign of any trouble in our home.”

Teddy A said he only realized something was wrong when his phone began receiving an unusual flood of notifications.

“I hadn’t posted anything. I was wondering what was trending and why my phone was blowing up,” he recalled.

As he scrolled through comments and messages, he watched his wife become emotional and confused.

“She kept asking who could do this to us. Honestly, I didn’t know where it came from,” he said.

The allegations quickly gained traction on social media, sparking widespread speculation and debate. Teddy A revealed that he consulted his manager, who advised him to stay silent and let the storm pass.

Looking back, he now believes that decision was a mistake.

“At the time, I didn’t understand the damage staying silent would do. Even now, years later, when my wife and I post photos or videos, people still comment and ask if I beat her.”

He admitted the experience left lasting scars.

“It affected me because people began to see me in a way that wasn’t true,” he said.

Teddy A’s honest reflection has once again brought attention to the serious long-term consequences of unverified allegations, the speed at which false narratives can spread online, and the importance of addressing damaging rumours quickly and directly.

To date, neither Teddy A nor Bambam has ever confirmed any incident of domestic violence. The couple, who share a daughter and have remained publicly united, continue to focus on their family and careers despite the lingering shadow of the old claims.
